SAVANNAH, GA – April 28, 2020 – The Salvation Army of Savannah has received a grant of $2,500 from Wells Fargo to support funds to help families facing an unstable housing situation due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
The Salvation Army has served the greater Savannah community for the past 120 years and has always been there to support low-income, homeless, laid off and struggling families. The local nonprofit has expanded its emergency shelter facilities for families facing homelessness during this time, provided kids’ meals and books at their Community Center, and supported children in their shelter with online learning, and more.
Due to the pandemic, The Salvation Army has experienced a much greater demand for emergency financial assistance, housing and homeless services in 2020. Donations like this from Wells Fargo will help the organization continue providing crucial aid to many families who have nowhere else to turn.
“I am delighted at the spirit of giving exhibited by the leadership at Wells Fargo during this time of crisis. Wells Fargo and The Salvation Army have both been serving this community for over a century and we look forward to continuing our relationship,” said The Salvation Army of Savannah’s Major Paul Egan.
The Salvation Army serves all 159 counties in Georgia and is uniquely positioned with 40 facilities that provide family emergency and sheltering assistance throughout out the state. TSA’s workers are local and have always been here for the community. In times of disaster, the organization will continue to be the last to leave to offer support and guidance on the front lines.
