SAVANNAH, GA – September 2, 2020 – Souls of Thunder Ministries will host its second annual Battle Cry for Savannah event, “Battle Cry First Responders Dodgeball Challenge,” from 4-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, September 25-26, at Kings Ferry Park on Highway 17 South Savannah, to benefit the Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire. In addition to raising money for the Two Hundred Club’s mission, the goal of the event is to provide an outlet for local First Responders to have fun and instill hope in the community during these uncertain times.
The two-day series will start with a First Responder Cook-off at 4 p.m. Friday, September 25, where participants who work in law enforcement and emergency management service will compete against other precincts and departments from surrounding counties. During the main events of Battle Cry 2020 – dodgeball games – first responders are challenged to form teams and duke it out to win a coveted 4-foot trophy.
The events will be followed with live entertainment by Excel Praise from Carrollton, Georgia, an awards ceremony, and several guest speakers, including the Rev. Todd Smith. Smith has been featured on Sid Roth’s television show, “It’s Supernatural”; was interviewed by Robert Liardon; and was requested by Charles Stanley for a personal meeting of prayer. He has authored numerous books, and people travel from around the world to attend his meetings at Christ Fellowship Church in North Georgia.
“We are immensely grateful to organizations like Battle Cry of Savannah, who consider our organization for beneficiary events like this. We are a completely volunteer-run organization, so all funds we receive go to support our mission of giving 100 percent to those who gave it all,” said Two Hundred Club President Mark Dana. “During these challenging times, it is important to remember our local heroes who are on the sidelines putting their lives at risk every day. It can be extremely exhausting and stressful, and we hope through this event that we can provide a little fun and joy for those who deserve it most. Come and join us for a weekend of entertainment and camaraderie!”
Team registration is $50, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Two Hundred Club. Community members are more than welcome to attend the event and cheer on the teams. The Two Hundred Club is a 501(c) (3) organization who “cares for those who care for us” by providing for the surviving spouses and dependents of first responders who have lost their lives or sustain critical injuries in the line of duty. The organization serves a 20-county area within Georgia and South Carolina. All proceeds from this event will go directly toward supporting the families of fallen heroes. The Two Hundred Club provides a one-time financial contribution to the surviving family members and provides a fully paid college education – including tuition, room and board, textbooks and a computer – to a fallen first responder’s children and spouse.
