ORLANDO, FL – May 2, 2019 – The VOICExperience Foundation is set to kick off its annual Florida VOICE Project intensive in Walt Disney World, marking the 19th season with four events at the Coronado Springs Resort Convention Center. From master classes with legendary operatic baritone Sherrill Milnes, to concerts filled will much-loved music, this season will not be one to be missed. VOICExperience was founded by Milnes and his wife, operatic soprano Maria Zouves, who is a Florida native and Stetson University alumna. They founded the organization together and now serve as the artistic director and executive director, respectively.

This highly regarded program, which gives rising young vocal artists an exclusive opportunity to hone their skills under the guidance of word-class musicians, was established in 2000 at the Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando. Their original faculty included actor and opera aficionado Tony Randall and Metropolitan Opera Star Martina Arroyo. This year, The Florida VOICE Project will return May 28-June 2 with operatic legends on the faculty, including Dan Gettinger, Constantine Grame, Pei Wen Chen, Manny Perez and Mark Schnaible, in addition to Milnes and Zouves.

Thousands of young vocal artists have gone through the Milnes VOICE programs across the nation and excelled in their professions. The Florida VOICE Project has a sizeable and supportive fan base of opera lovers and music enthusiasts all over Florida, thanks to the high-quality musical programming, concerts, masterclasses and other entertainment. The Florida VOICE Project offers young vocal artists from Florida and the Southeastern Region high-quality, intensive training every year. Audiences enjoy a carefully curated array of performances and shows, watching with interest as VOICE Project faculty support young people with a passion for their artistry.

The first event of the week, a “Meet the Artists Concert,” is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 in the Coronado Springs Resort in the Convention Center’s Cancun Room. A cash bar will be available at the event door and tickets are $25. Attendees are encouraged to come and enjoy music and stay afterward for a meet-and-greet with the artists. During the concert, hosted by Milnes, introductions will be made to a new generation of vocal artists as they present selections from various genres.

The second VOICE Project event, “A Masterclass with Sherrill Milnes,” is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30, also in the Convention Center’s Cancun Room. While coaching young artists, Milnes will offer in-depth insight into techniques and expertise. Following the session, Milnes will sign copies of his book, “American Aria: Encore.” Universally acclaimed as the foremost baritone of his generation, Milnes has performed over 600 times at the Met, reaching legendary status as a master of operatic form. A three-time Grammy Award winner, Milnes has sung with the likes of Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland and is considered a prominent artist of opera’s “Golden Age.”

The masterclass and book signing will feature a cash bar, and tickets are $25 each.

The 19th season continues with “Dinner and a Movie” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 31 in the Walt Disney’s epic Coronado Resort’s convention center’s Durango Room. Attendees will enjoy a full evening at the beautiful resort with a gourmet chef-crafted buffet dinner, cocktails, and a concert featuring opera, musical theatre and song featured in movies such as Moonstruck. This musical tribute to the silver screen costs $65 per person and includes the buffet dinner, a complimentary cocktail and even popcorn.

The Florida VOICE Project wraps up on June 2 with “Scenes & Songs,” a showcase of opera, musical theater, and song, at 3 p.m. in the center’s Yucatan Room. After an enriching week of preparation and discovery, this exciting concert combines all forms of music into one great event — a great way to end the season. Tickets are $35 and guests are invited to stay after for a delightful meet-and-greet with Milnes and other faculty members and artists.

Student tickets for the “Meet the Artists Concert,” “Sherrill Milnes Masterclass” and “Sherrill Milnes Presents: Scenes & Songs” are only $10 at the door, 30 minutes prior to showtime.
