SAVANNAH, GA – July 30, 2019 – Savannah VOICE Festival’s (SVF) impressive seventh season, “Heaven and Earth,” staged in and around Savannah from Aug. 3-25, will pay homage to the past with spectacular classic arias by today’s Festival artists and a special presentation by co-founder and Artistic Director Sherrill Milnes, a world-renowned baritone. In keeping with the Festival’s mission to pass the baton of vocal excellence and help young singers launch their careers, SVF will glimpse into the future of some of the Festival’s promising, new artists through an invaluable audition experience and mini-concert.

On Monday, Aug. 5 at ChristChurchEpiscopal, located at 28 Bull Street, SVF will present two concerts: “Death, By Aria I” at 5 p.m. and “Death, By Aria II” at 7 p.m. During both concerts, audiences will have the unique opportunity of meeting the Milnes VOICE Studio artists and cast members of the Savannah Opera Studio productions, Dialogues of the Carmelites and The Little Prince, then listen as they offer up “heavenly” voices in songs designed to wow both “die hard” fans and Festival newcomers alike. Concerts are 90 minutes long and tickets are only $25.

As part of its recital series, the Savannah VOICE Festival will stage Shooting Stars: Emerging Artist Recital on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m., at the Jewish Education Alliance, located at 5111 Abercorn St. This concert showcases mini recitals from five of this season’s budding Festival Artists who are ready to launch!  Hear the stories and music of Nan Qin, Jessica Fishenfeld, Ana Collado, Luis Quiros and Emily Yocum Black. Tickets are $35-$45.

“Audiences will thoroughly enjoy watching these artists shine in their first, Festival mini-concert, plus hear the back story on how they became some of the most talented singers ready to rocket to the stage. It’s going to be a magnificent night of music that you won’t want to miss!” promises Maria Zouves, SVF co-founder and Executive Director.

On Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Charles H. Morris Center, located at 10 E. Broad St., SVF will present “Mission: Audition.” After two weeks of working hard to perfect their audition package, audition track singers will have the opportunity to perform for a distinguished panel to learn just what will take to get to the next level. Tickets are $25.

“In this unique, 90-minute event, singers will have an incredible chance to gain vital insight into the minds of both the auditioner AND the auditioned,” explains Milnes. “Aspiring musicians quickly recognize the tremendous value of having a rare opportunity like this while learning how to pursue a career in vocal performance!”

To honor co-founder of SVF, a 90-minute video presentation and discussion, “Milnes at the Morris,” will be presented by Milnes himself on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 1 p.m., at the Charles H. Morris Center, located at 10 E Broad Street. Having performed over 650 times at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as and holding the title of leading baritone around the stages of the world, Milnes has many interesting and delightful, life-on-the-road and stage stories to share from his illustrious career – including those with artists such as Carol Burnett, Tony Randall and Luciano Pavarotti — during this FREE, afternoon “Master in VOICE” class.
