SAVANNAH, GA – February 4, 2020 – The Savannah Ballet Theatre (SBT) is holding auditions for its production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on Sunday, February 9 at the studio on Whitemarsh Island, 115 Charlotte Rd, Savannah, 31410.
Auditions for ages 5-8 will be held at 2 p.m. and ages 9 and up will be held at 3 p.m. The audition fee is $10. Those chosen will have the opportunity to perform and train alongside the Professional Company members for the highly anticipated show. Dancers will have access to teachers and professional dancers who can help advance their technique and performance. SBT’s positive atmosphere encourages healthy habits and building a solid dance foundation.
Recognized as the premiere dance company in Southeast Georgia, SBT is best known locally for its annual production of the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker. SBT presents a full season of classical and contemporary dance and has staged productions of Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, and an original adaptation based on CS Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.
The enduring classic, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, comes to life with the beauty of classical ballet, music and adventure. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe follows the four Pevensie children as they leave England during World War II to explore the magical world of Narnia, all while learning lessons of sacrifice and forgiveness.
“Following our mission to develop and display the incredible talent of local dancers, we invite ambitious young dancers to audition to experience professional guidance from our Company members as we rehearse and perform this original ballet,” said SBT Advancement Director Abby McCuen. “This is a great experience for young dancers that will hopefully inspire them to continue expressing their creativity and love for dance.”
SBT is Savannah and southeast Georgia’s only professional dance company. It is their mission to develop and showcase the talent of dedicated Savannah dancers alongside top professional dancers who train in the studio, and to engage in educational outreach and promotion of the art of dance within the community.
