ST. ELIZABETH’S ATTIC THRIFT AND GIFT STORE CELEBRATES SEVEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND APPEALS FOR VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS

RICHMOND HILL, GA – November 30, 2016 – The Attic Thrift and Gift Store of St. Elizabeth’s Church will soon celebrate seven years of selling gently used goods to support numerous local ministries and is appealing for volunteers to help run the store as well as donations of unwanted holiday gifts and other suitable items.

The thrift store, located by the church at 16491 Highway 144 in Richmond Hill, continues to be an important part of the church’s outreach programs.  Shoppers are invited to browse a wide variety of affordable items from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Tuesday and Saturday.  Prices start at only $1, and the shop’s diverse selection of goods includes men’s and women’s clothes, ladies’ handbags, children’s clothes, shoes, toys and games, as well as tools, dishes, furniture, and much more. The money raised goes to help support many local ministries, including Way Station, the Salvation Army, and Goodwill.

In 2009, a group of women from St. Elizabeth’s Church started discussing the idea of the store after witnessing the success of an annual yard sale that grew bigger each year. A group of generous community members donated the building for the store, and it now sits on church property. Volunteers are responsible for the day-to-day operations.

“The Attic Thrift and Gift Store has continued to raise funds over the years for charitable organizations and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this. The store runs solely on volunteers and we are always looking for more. This is a great way to give back to the community,” said Jean Smith, The Attic Thrift and Gift Store manager, who also is a member of the original founding group.

A 24-hour donation drop box is located outside of the store or items can be dropped off inside during opening hours.

St. Elizabeth’s is a Bible-believing church, where Jesus is Lord and Savior and all are welcomed and loved. The Rev. Dr. C. Clark Hubbard, pastor, and his team have worked to build a church community for the community, where area residents can live within the Spirit, today and tomorrow, to build the Kingdom of God. In addition to operating the on-site thrift store, St. Elizabeth also provides Christian education programs for children, youth, and adults and operates an acclaimed pre-school.
