SAVANNAH, GA – JANUARY 15, 2020 – Historic Savannah Foundation’s 13th Colony will host a Thomas Square/Starland Neighborhood Revitalization Tour on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The event is free to attend for 13th Colony members and for those interested in joining 13th Colony. Participants will start out at 5:30 p.m. at a recently-sold HSF Revolving Fund property, located at 208 W. 40th St. The new property owners have graciously agreed to invite 13thColony members into their home, which is currently undergoing a restoration. Visitors will tour the property and hear from the property owner regarding their vision for the house and insights on its restoration.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the group will depart from the launch site to tour several nearby properties that are currently being restored using Rehabilitation Tax Credits. This part of the tour will be led by returning event sponsor Cabretta Capitol’s Brett Watts as well as Lominack Kolman Smith Architects’ Kevin F. Rose. The segment will be followed by an insightful, guided tour of the Starland Yard provided by Rose, the project architect. At the conclusion of the tours, all active 13thColony members will receive a complimentary beverage as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking within the venue.

“The focus of this 13th Colony event is to promote and highlight the value preservation brings in fostering communities,” said HSF Membership and Volunteer Coordinator, Chassidy Malloy. “And, importantly, how Historic Savannah Foundation continues to play a significant role in stimulating neighborhood revitalization.”

The mission of the 13th Colony is to promote greater understanding and awareness for historic preservation and the goals of Historic Savannah Foundation, as well as grow new leadership within the organization. HSF is cultivating the next generation of preservation-minded community leaders through its 13th Colony supporters. With a strategic plan focused on membership, community outreach, education and awareness – all central to HSF’s mission of saving building, places and stories that define Savannah’s past, present, and future — they are rising to the challenge of increasing involvement of Savannah’s young professionals within HSF and their communities.

13th Colony membership support benefits include invitations to exclusive 13th Colony events, tours and programs, as well as invitations to lectures, HSF’s Annual Gala and other special events. Members also receive quarterly newsletters, special recognition as a new member, one (1) free admission to the Davenport House Museum, a 10% discount at the museum’s gift shop, HSF merchandise and an HSF decal.
