SAVANNAH, GA– June 5, 2019 – Historic Savannah Foundation has been presented with a $2,500 grant from Wells Fargo to support the HSF Preservation Action Fund.

This contributionwill help support HSF’s education and outreach efforts.  HSF is one of the most respected local preservation organizations in the country — emphasizing not only the protection of individual historic buildings but also the revitalization of blighted neighborhoods. Instead of being a reactive, crisis-oriented organization, HSF is a civic-minded organization that works proactively to save Savannah’s character in the National Historic Landmark District and throughout Chatham County.

“Wells Fargo’s donation goes further than monetary support,” said HSF President and CEO Daniel Carey. “Wells Fargo decided to support our mission and that endorsement means as much as the grant. We are grateful for their acknowledgment of what HSF does for the Savannah community, and how this gift will advance our work in 2019.”

Since 1852, Wells Fargo has strived to make a positive impact by helping people and communities succeed financially. Building on their history of strengthening neighborhoods, they continue to expand their philanthropic impact to help solve community challenges. They donated $444 million to nearly 11,000 nonprofits in 2018, focusing on affordable housing, small businesses, education, sustainability, and local issues. Savannah and HSF are a natural match with their shared interest in helping cities thrive from the roots.

HSF saves buildings, places and stories that define Savannah’s past, present, and future. Following its formation in 1955, HSF started a Revolving Fund to save endangered historic properties. To date, HSF has saved and protected more than 370 buildings throughout Savannah’s historic districts. HSF demonstrates the cultural, social and economic benefits of preservation as good public policy by proving that preservation and progress go hand-in-hand.
