SAVANNAH, GA – November 8, 2019 – Windy’s Preschool, an early childhood education and care program operated by Greenbriar Children’s Center, recently announced its designation as a two-star Quality Rated facility, as determined by the Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning’s Bright from the Start.
“Quality Rated” is the system Georgia uses to determine, improve and communicate the quality of programs that provide childcare. Similar to the rating system given to restaurants and hotels, one, two or three stars are assigned to early-education and school-age childcare programs that meet or exceed the minimum requirements.
Participation in Georgia’s voluntary Quality Rated program guarantees safe, healthy and caring environments, well-trained teachers, individualized instruction, low teacher to student ratio and curriculums focused on active learning and social-emotional development to prepare children for kindergarten.
Greenbriar Children’s Center is a private, nonprofit organization, which promotes the healthy development of children and the strengthening of families through services provided. These services include emergency shelter, independent living, family preservation, early childhood education and care, and Project Safe Place.
“We are very honored and proud that our second early learning center also received a two-star Quality Rating this year,” Greenbriar Executive Director Gena Taylor said. “This is just a testimony to our hard work of continuing our mission of nurturing children and strengthening families in our community. As we celebrate 70 years, this is a great time to honor our organization’s accomplishments, such as providing quality education to our area’s youth.”
Windy’s Preschool offers high quality care and education for children, ranging from age six months to five years. Windy’s Preschool utilizes the Creative Curriculum, which is a research-based curriculum that promotes exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. These services help increase the accessibility and affordability of quality childcare to low-income families in our community. Families who are attempting to move themselves out of poverty can go to work and be confident that their child is in a safe, nurturing environment and receiving quality education and care.
