SAVANNAH, GA – November 21, 2019 – A new Davenport House Museum holiday benefit will take on the spirit of Christmases past with a collaboration between the Museum and the Marshall House Inn from 5:45 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
The evening will begin at 5:45 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres at the Davenport House Museum’s Kennedy Pharmacy, 323 E. Broughton Street. At 6:30 p.m. guests will stroll down to the historic Marshall House Inn, 123 E. Broughton Street, for music, celebratory drinks and an opportunity to visit guest rooms to look for ghosts of Christmases past. At 7:15 p.m. an English Roast dinner will be prepared and served by 45 Bistro in the atrium. At 8:15 p.m. participants will stroll back to the Kennedy Pharmacy with carolers to conclude the evening with dessert, Madeira, coffee, and a demonstration of 19thcentury dancing a la Roger de Coverly.
“This holiday celebration is going to be extra special as we reflect on holiday traditions of Charles Dickens and old Mr. Fezziwig’s English Christmas,” said Davenport House Museum Director Jamie Credle. “We hope that people will join us on this celebratory occasion to have fun and support the Davenport House Museum and Historic Savannah Foundation.”
Tickets cost $95 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Davenport House Museum.
