SAVANNAH – GA – November 6, 2019 – Asbury Memorial Church is slated to host its sixth annual Pecan & Honey Harvest from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 on Madison Square, at Bull and Macon streets.
This popular annual event includes live entertainment and a Country Café for the sale of pecan-themed goodies, beverages and local honey. The honey is harvested from Asbury’s “heavenly” bees, which invaded the church in 2011, and all pecans at the Pecan & Honey Harvest are of the Georgia-grown “Elliott” variety and have just been harvested and shelled in late Oct. The harvest is made possible by helpful volunteers, including Asbury’s Green Team and committee chair Bill Jahn.
Continuing their annual Pecan & Honey Harvest partnership, Old Savannah Tours will participate by sharing information about the Harvest with guests using their trolleys on Nov. 23 and encouraging them to hop off at their Madison Square stop to take a break and enjoy Asbury’s event.
“The Pecan & Honey Harvest is a fun and exciting event that has become a Savannah tradition,” said Rev. Billy Hester, Asbury Memorial’s pastor. “The congregation is already looking forward to a great time and we look forward to seeing everyone come out- new and old faces! It will be a joyful celebration of Savannah’s spirit.”
Live musical entertainment will be provided throughout the event beginning at 10 a.m. with Ryan and Patti Kelly, followed by Polyphonic 3, 13th Colony Sound, Seldom Sober, and The World Famous Crabettes who take the stage to wrap-up at 2 p.m.
The Country Café will offer delicious treats like “secret recipe” pecan pies, pecan cheese bites, shelled pecan halves, and other pecan baked goods. Asbury’s famous clown dolls will also be on display and available for purchase.
Asbury Memorial is a Christ-centered, forward-thinking, all-inclusive congregation that celebrates the joy of God creatively and is committed to remaining a welcoming and affirming congregation for all.
