SAVANNAH, GA – April 2, 2020 – In response to the suspension of in-person church activities and the move to online services in mid-March, Asbury Memorial Church has announced additional worship resources to keep people connected during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Each weekday (Monday-Friday) at 12 noon, a short, live devotion and prayer will be broadcast via Zoom and can be accessed by visiting https://zoom.us/j/121907484. Links to these daily noontide devotions will also be posted on Asbury Memorial’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/asburymemorialumcsavannah/ and website at www.asburymemorial.org.
Intended for children, and those young at heart, the church is sharing beautiful Godly Play stories on their website and YouTube channel. The Godly Play program teaches children the art of using religious language through parables, sacred stories, and liturgical action presentations to help them become fully aware of God’s presence in their lives.
Those interested in staying connected without the use of a computer or social media can call 912-358-0842 for recorded messages of encouragement anytime a ‘pick-me-up’ is needed. These messages will change frequently and are available 24-7.
Asbury Memorial is also continuing to expand the content and variety in their online worship series each Sunday at 11:15 a.m. which can also be accessed via the church’s website.
“As our ability to interact in person grows more restricted, we need to remember that we are not alone,” said Asbury Memorial Rev. Billy Hester. “We are still a vibrant faith community and God is present in this uncertain time of our lives to love us, lead us and witness our daily strife and pleasures.”
Asbury Memorial is a Christ-centered, forward-thinking, all-inclusive congregation that celebrates the joy of God creatively and is committed to remaining a welcoming and affirming congregation for all. For more information about Asbury Memorial Church, please visit www.asburymemorial.org.
