SAVANNAH, GA – August 25, 2020 – Labor Day Weekend is sure to be musically spectacular in Savannah, as the American Traditions Vocal Competition (ATC) presents musical offerings all weekend. If you want to support the ATC and their live musical events, there are several ways to do that this September.

On Friday, Sept. 4, ATC Silver Medalist Jasmine Habersham, will present a Porch Party concert in the outdoor space of a private home on Wilmington Island titled, Classically American.  This concert will feature hits from the American musical repertoire from composers such as Bernstein, Gershwin, Floyd and even the music of previous ATC Judge, Ricky Ian Gordon. Jasmine has recently accepted a position with the Atlanta Opera as an Atlanta Opera Company Player, along with major opera stars such as Bass Morris Robinson, and Mezzo-Soprano Jamie Barton. Habersham will be accompanied by ATC People’s Choice Winner, Nat Zegree. Tickets for this event are $100 and the event will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. Moneys raised will benefit the musicians performing, fund future programing and directly support the ATC. The ticket includes a Fair Market Value of $55 and appetizers for noshing, and will utilize COVID safety protocols, as outlined by the city of Savannah.

On Saturday, Sept. 5 the musical pair will again team up to present a FREE concert in the Dinosaur Atrium of the brand-new Plant Riverside District (PRD), located at 500 W River Street in downtown Savannah. This concert will take place at 5 p.m., and will be free and open to the public, as the latest installment in the ATC’s Give Back Initiative, a love letter to the supportive, unique and artist-friendly community of Savannah, the organization’s home for the past 28 years. This concert will be approximately 45 minutes long and will be played on one of Mr. Richard Kessler’s Bösendorfer pianos in the beautiful new space. PRD boasts an exciting collection of new restaurants and bars and invites patrons and fans of the ATC to stay for dinner or a cocktail after the performance concludes.

Finally, on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2018 People’s Choice Winner Nat Zegree presents a solo Porch Party concert in his one-man-show style. Returning to Savannah after his December concerts sold out two performances, Nat is a musical performer for the whole family.  Not just a fantastic performer, having toured the country as Jerry Lee Lewis in the musical Million Dollar Quartet, he is also a composer who has penned several songs and musicals, including Broadway bound, original musical, Fly More Than You Fall. To celebrate how fun and engaging he is, his evening performance, from 5-7 p.m. will feature dessert, complete with Savannah favorites, Two Smart Cookies and Leopold’s Ice Cream! This event will take place in the outdoor space of a private home in the Emerald Pointe community, and tickets will again be $100 with a Fair Market Value of $55.

The American Traditions Vocal Competition celebrates and preserves all styles of classic American music. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization promotes these songs by producing an annual vocal competition in Savannah, Georgia, that awards over $35,000 in cash prizes. As part of community-driven service and initiative, the organization provides musical education, style-based musical exposure and performances for Savannah locals of all ages.
